Bryan was missing for months after his plane crashed on a strange hidden island in the South Pacific with some guy named Jacob. Luckily he was rescued (with 5 others) and found his way back to the states. Now he's a Co-Founder of The SciFried as well as a Co-Founder of the wildly popular TVOvermind.com.

Luckily, a new international trailer has been released that shows never-before-seen footage. You can check it out below and let us know in the comments or forums what you think about it.

If you haven't yet heard of the new series Syfy has picked up, Alphas, then consider this your chance. This is a series that has been laying around for a few years, and comes from screenwriter Zak Penn (X-men 3) and Michael Karnow. ABC snatched the series up back in 2007, but after the writers strike and the new genre fears most of the major networks seem to be having, it got thrown on the shelf. That is until Syfy pulled it out and renamed the show Alphas.
What is it? I'd love to describe it as everything Heroes should have been, and nothing Heroes became, but the truth is the verdict is still out on this show. Back in 2007, when the show was still dubbed Section 8, The Futon Critic posted the following synopsis:
When a witness is inexplicably murdered in a locked room at a federal courthouse, Section 8 (under the auspices of the National Security Agency) is put on the case. Lead by Dr. Leigh Rosen (all roles have yet to be cast), the team has but one mandate - locate and assess the threats posed by "alphas," human beings "with enhanced abilities due to differences in their brain structure." Joining Rosen in his quest are four such alphas - Gary Bell, a highly functioning autistic with an ability to process information that rivals most computers; Bill Harken, a former FBI agent who can amp up his "fight or flight" reflex, giving him extraordinary strength for a brief period of time; Nina Theroux, a beautiful woman who can reprogram other people's minds to do as she bids; and Rachel Myers, an orthodox Jew who can shatter glass with but a whisper. However with said powers comes a price - for Gary, autism which makes him a child for all intents and purposes; for Harken, severe anger issues that cost him his job and family; for Rachel, living life as a near mute and being forced to wear an electronic device against her larynx; and Nina, never really knowing how those close to her actually feel. In any case, they've all come together for the common good with Rosen as their mentor, teaching them to further control their abilities with each passing day. As for the courthouse murder, it's not long before the team uncovers that one of their own kind was responsible - Christian Hicks, a former Marine sharpshooter with supernatural balance and aim (he guided the bullet through a ventilation duct). After bringing him in though, they realize someone even more powerful was pulling the strings... someone with a new technology that can be used to mimic one of the team's gifts.
The most exciting part about his news is that Syfy channel is doing an actual science fiction series. I love it when they do that! And thanks to Battlestar Galactica I always seem to have high hopes, even if I am often let down. What makes this project more exciting is that two of the cast members have now been announced, and they're certainly familiar faces.
Check out the press release from Syfy below and get ready...
New York, New York - August 12, 2010 - Syfy has announced additional casting for its previously announced pilot Alphas, inking actress Azita Ghanizada to co-star in the wry action-adventure project from writers Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand, The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk) and Michael Karnow, it was announced today by Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions, which is the studio for the project. She joins previously announced cast members David Strathairn, Ryan Cartwright, Malik Yoba, Warren Christie and Laura Mennell. Additionally, Callum Keith Rennie has been signed to guest star in the pilot.
Alphas is executive produced by Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein for BermanBraun Television and will be directed by Jack Bender (director and executive producer of Lost). Production is underway in Toronto.
Alphas follows a team of ordinary citizens whose brain anomalies imbue them with extraordinary mental and physical abilities. Taking the law into their own hands, the unlikely team, led by Dr. Lee Rosen (David Strathairn) investigates cases that suggest other Alpha activity to uncover what the CIA, FBI and Pentagon have not been able or willing to solve. These gifted individuals must balance their quirky personalities and disparate backgrounds with their not always visible powers as they work to solve crimes, stop the ticking time bomb and catch the enemy.
Azita Ghanizada plays Rachel who, from an early age, has been able to "hyper-intensify" her senses, one at a time—vision, hearing, taste, and smell. Her mother and father—who are conservative parents—thought she was cursed and discouraged this unique and amazing ability. Overly sensitive—literally—Rachel has always felt ashamed and rejected. With Dr. Rosen's help and encouragement, she's learning to appreciate her skill and grow increasingly confident and adventurous.
Ghanizada's credits include appearances on the television series Castle, Ghost Whisperer, Entourage, How I Met Your Mother, Psych, The Closer, Numbers and The Wedding Bells. She is represented by Joel King of Pakula/King & Associates and managed by Katie Mason of Luber/Roklin Entertainment.
Callum Keith Rennie plays Don Wilson, a Washington bureaucrat, and Lee Rosen's superior and contact inside the Pentagon.
Rennie is no stranger to Syfy having portrayed Leoben, a Cylon on the critically acclaimed series Battlestar Galactica throughout its four season-run on the channel. Other roles include memorable arcs on 24 and FlashForward, Lew Ashby on Californication, and he was featured on Syfy's Emmy-winning miniseries smash Tin Man. He is managed by Elizabeth Hodgson at Hodgson Management Group and represented by Agency for the Performing Arts (APA).
FlashForward may have met its demise rather early for such a hyped up event, but the main star, Joseph Fiennes appears to be ready to jump back into television again. Soon, Fiennes will star in the upcoming Starz series, Camelot.
Fiennes spoke via satelite from the Dublin set for the Television Critics Association on August 7, joking about his most recently cancelled series.
"I felt like I went through a series of blackouts for 2 minutes and 17 seconds, woke up and the whole landscape had changed again. Here I was in a Celtic countryside. Who knows? It's a topsy-turvy world, isn't it? It's exciting, exhilarating, I'm passionate and loved my time with FlashForward and all the wonderful people I met with and worked with there. It was hugely ambitious, but being taken off air for so long to find our feet, we didn't pull it off."
Of course, with Camelot its doubtful we'll see such a quick demise. For one thing, the show being on the Starz's network gives it a bit more slack in the ratings department, and will allow it to grow more into it's audience (or allow it's audience to grow into it). For another thing, the King Arthur story is an epic that's already been laid out. This gives the writers the opportunity to go slowly, exploring the nuances of each of the characters in the events that unfold.
"It's a beautiful, riveting, romantic, sensational epic story that has never been told in all of its episodes," Fiennes said. "I think television is a wonderful medium for that. I love television, that it can explore in ways that film just can't do because film is structured to a particular arc and time frame. Yet the liberation of television, and certainly with Camelot, allows you just to go hell for leather and really get into the meat of an amazing story and bring it to life and breathe life into it. I think the other renditions have been fractured, one or two episodes of characters Arthur, Merlin, Morgana. No one's ever done the full impact."
Fiennes will be playing Merlin on the show, and we have the first image of him as the great wizard below. Every rendition of the King Arthur legend has taken new liberties with the characters, especially with Merlin. Camelot will be no different and Fiennes spoke a bit to irishcentral about just that:
"He is more of a warrior monk and less of a Zen Obi-Wan Gandalf. I think there's a duality with Merlin ... he fights fire with fire; he drives out a nail with another nail. He doesn't turn the other cheek. I don't think Merlin is a villain, but he is far from driven snow. I think he is full of Machiavellian machinations. There's an element of Willy Wonka, Donald Rumsfeld and Obi-Wan to him."
Wow. That's quite the description of Merlin there. So did he nail it? And what do you think of Merlin's new look?

We have a sneak peak of tomorrow night's all new episode of Warehouse 13 from Syfy. In this episode Pete's mission to find a traitor leads him into conflict with the Warehouse team. The episode is titled "Around the Bend" and airs tomorrow, August 10th, at 9/8C on Syfy.
This news tidbit is far from new, and is just a small piece of the hordes of information that came out of Comic Con this year. But, since this site didn't technically exist at the time, you'll have to cut us some news-slack, and this is far too cool to not post anything about it.
So here goes, at the Quantum Leap panel (titled "A Leap of Faith—A Quantum Leap Retrospective") with Scott Bakula at this year's Comic Con, it was announced that a Quantum Leap movie IS in the works, with original creator Donald P. Bellisario writing it. However, he quickly informed the excited fans that he was too old to play Sam Beckett.
“The good news is that Don is working on the film script and has a big time Hollywood producer who wants to do it,” said Bakula, then had to wait for the cheering to subside. “It’s about time. But what I always thought would happen, happened… [that he’s now too old for the role]. But Dean [Stockwell, who played Al] and I will have a part in it somehow.
So, good news, we get a Quantum Leap movie, finally (hopefully...nothing is final in Hollywood until the editing is done!). Bad news, Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell will NOT be reprising their original roles, though they will get some kind of cameo apparently. So how do you all feel about this? Are we happy, or are we sad?
While game play details are still few and far between, we finally have some sick images and an official title for the Batman Arkham Asylum sequel, due out next year. The official game title will be Batman: Arkham City. Thanks to a press release, here's what we know:

“soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security ‘home’ for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.”
From the pictures below we can deduce that the games also features Cat Woman and we can all hope for some co-op in this sequel. Also, the images below come from Game Informer who will be featuring 2 covers for their September issue. Batman: Arkham City is due out in the fall of 2011 on XBox 360, Playstation 3, and Games for Windows. Don't miss this one! (click on images for a larger view)
Star Wars is a science fiction franchise comprised of movies, books, comics, video games, and animated shows. It is a fictional universe created by George Lucas. The Star Wars story employs archetypal motifs common to science fiction, political climax and classical mythology, as well as musical motifs of those aspects.
As one of the foremost examples of the space opera sub-genre of science fiction, Star Wars has become part of mainstream popular culture, as well as being one of the highest-grossing series of all time.
This is currently just a placeholder for this writeup.
The Star Wars universe spans thousands and thousands of years with more characters than you can possibly imagine (I don't know, I can imagine alot...), but originally, at its core, it's a story about a small group of people and how they affect the collapse, and rebuilding of a republic. Below are the key characters in each of the main stories.
Yesterday news broke that ABC has shut down production of their fast-falling drama, FlashForward. The shut down comes just a month after original co-showrunner Marc Guggeneheim departed and David Goyer stepped up as the sole showrunner. The move also comes after last week's ratings low for the series, bringing in only 8.1 million viewers.
However, if you're a fan of the show and concerned, ABC says don't be. According to a rep for the network, small hiatuses like this were built in to the schedule for the show. “They started production early so that they could have the luxury to do this,” says the rep. “They want to maintain the high quality of the show, and this gives the writers the opportunity to do so.”
FlashForward isn't the only ABC show that seems to be dealing with these production shutdowns. The network's new series V was given a month-long production shutdown recently to improve the direction of the show, and earlier this week Cougar Town shut down production so that star Courtney Cox could deal with personal issues.
Production will resume for FlashForward Monday after only a six day break. FlashForward airs its mid-season finale on Dec. 3.
If you watched the new Syfy comedy series Outer Space Astronauts last week and fell in love with the hilariously dry and witty comedy we have something special for you. Below is a sneak peak at next week's (Tuesday, Dec. 15) two new episodes. The first episode is titled Of Cannibals and Cuddlepuffs and the sneak peak features the news from Captain Ripley that he has mono and is putting Operations Officer Donna Kennedy in charge of the ship, instead of his second in command, ensuring that Commander Amos, the only capable person on the ship, is always second fiddle. The synopsis is below:
As Ripley battles a serious case of mono, Sunny adopts a seemingly loveable and cuddly smelling “pet” onto the ship. Brimley and Matheson attempt to rescue a damsel in distress from a group of not-so-wonderful-smelling cannibal kidnappers
The second episode is titled "Undies" and the sneak peak gives a glimpse of the crew's witnessing of a nearby nova (not to be confused with a super nova). This is by far one of the funniest episodes of the series and is a must see. The full synopsis follows:
Barely escaping the wrath of a mistaken supernova, Intern Jimmy Peck becomes seriously ill while a disgusting, filthy undergarment begins to exhibit extraordinary powers. Sunny helps Ka’ak file her first report in the human art of office bureaucracy.
by Emmett Spain It’s strange the things you think about in the end.
I know the odds of survival for a young man in my position are considered to be quite high. The odds for a man my age? Considerably lower. Somewhere in the area of one in one million, I imagine.
I can’t help but picture one million men—all decked out in the same preposterously bulky suits—stretched out alongside me, trailing out for mile... |
