Starz Picks up Torchwood, Captain Jack To Continue Hitting on Everything In Sight

It looks like TORCHWOOD has been saved from the fate of an unfair cancellation by Fox. The DOCTOR WHO spin-off has been picked up by Starz- the network that is hard at work trying to revamp it’s image, most recently with the violent and decadent SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND.

The good news is that the principle cast is returning along with Russell T. Davies and Julie Gardner as executive producers. The better news is that the new series will likely take advantage of Starz pay-channel status and become edgier. The producers also say that they want to broaden the series scope on a more international scale. I don’t know about you guys, but this definitely means I need to add Starz to my cable package.

TORCHWOOD is about Captain Jack Harkness and his team of British intelligence agents who deal in encounters with extra terrestrials and alien technology.  Think  X-Files , but infinitely cooler with an omnisexual lead character that would nail Mulder and Scully in a 3 way after he stole the case…or maybe before…depending on Captain Jack’s priorities.
