Battlestar Galactica is an American science fiction franchise created by Glen A. Larson. The franchise began with a 1978 TV show, followed by a sequel TV series, a line of book adaptations, original novels, comic books, boardgame and video games. A re-imagined miniseries developed by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick aired in 2003, continuing with a regular television series aired from 2004 to 2009 and a prequel series, Caprica, which began airing in January 2010.

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television program produced by the BBC. The program depicts the adventures of a mysterious and eccentric humanoid alien known as the Doctor who travels through time and space in his spacecraft, the TARDIS (an acronym for Time And Relative Dimension In Space), which normally appears from the exterior to be a blue 1950s British police box. With his companions, he explores time and space, faces a variety of foes, and rights wrongs.

Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by the British author J. K. Rowling. The books chronicle the adventures of the adolescent wizard Harry Potter and his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main story arc concerns Harry's quandary involving the evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents in his quest to conquer the wizarding world and subjugate non-magical people (Muggles).  The books are also being made into a series of 8 movies.

Star Trek is an American science fiction entertainment franchise. The original Star Trek is an American television series, created by Gene Roddenberry, which debuted in 1966 and ran for three seasons, following the interstellar adventures of Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the Federation Starship Enterprise.  These adventures were continued by the short-lived Star Trek: The Animated Series  and six feature films. Four more television series were eventually produced along with four additional feature films, following the crew of The Next Generation, and most recently a 2009 movie reboot of the franchise featuring a young crew of the original Enterprise set in an alternate time line.

Star Wars is a space opera originally conceived by George Lucas, with the first film being released on May 25, 1977.  After more than thirty years to franchise spans movies, books, multiple television series, video games, and comic books.

Stargate

Stargate

Stargate is a military science fiction franchise, initially conceived by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin. The first film in the franchise was simply titled Stargate. Three years later, Canadian Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner created a television series titled Stargate SG-1 as a sequel for the film.

In addition to film and television, the Stargate franchise has expanded into other media, including books, video games, and comic books. These supplements to the film and television series have resulted in significant development of the show's fictional universe and mythology. In 2008, the films Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Continuum were released direct-to-DVD, which in total grossed over $21 million in the United States. In 2004, the TV series Stargate Atlantis was released as a spin off from Stargate SG-1 and a second series Stargate Universe premiered on October 2, 2009.
